Did you know we spend 90% of our time indoors?
In our continued series to celebrate the World Green Building Week #WGBW2017 and our company's three year anniversary, we are today looking at our indoor environments.
The indoor conditions of buildings drive the performance and satisfaction of those they accommodate. Furthermore the way they are designed determines the result they will produce. Green offices are created to increase employees’ productivity and reduce sick leaves, green hospitals are designed for patients to recover faster and green schools see their students get higher grades.
Indoor environmental quality is just one of the reasons why designing greener buildings is so important. As we will continue to spend the majority of our time indoors, we need building developers, promoters, and designers to offer stimulating and comfortable environments where we can enjoy boosted productivity, well-being and health.
We need buildings that serve their functionality, their occupants and our natural environment at the expense of neither one of them.
Here are 5 things you can look at to ensure you provide occupants with the highest indoor environmental quality:
Thermal comfort
Air quality
Lighting distribution
Occupant control
Material emissions
